FAQ's

Answers to questions about my book.

Q: Beautiful artwork. Did you do all of the illustrations ?
A: I did most and my mother, Diane Wright (of St.Georges, Utah) was my co-illustrator. She is a extremely talented artist and I was fortunate to have inherited her genes and work ethic.

Q: How did you get interested in caterpillars and butterflies ?
A: We first spotted a Black Swallowtail butterfly in the herb garden. A few days later there were tiny caterpillars munching on some of the plants. Instead of reaching for bugspray we researched the science of butterflies known as Lepidoptera.

Q: What's my secret dream for my book ?
A: I hope that it will entertain, inspire, and be a fun learning experience for everyone. I have recently heard that is is currently being used as a learning source in church and youth outreach programs.

Q: Where did you and Maddison do most of your research ?
A: Internet, local nurseries, Panhandle Butterfly House (Navarre,FL).

Q: Do butterflies bite ?
A: No, they do not. Maddison (3yrs. old) takes them out of the cage by gently cupping her hands around them. They walk down her tiny fingers to a plant where the butterfly will sit before flying away. To quote Maddison, "They tickle me!".

Q: How come you see more butterflies on sunny days ?
A: Butterflies love the sun and use their wings to warm their body temperature. On cold days most will not fly at all.
